It is inherent that our clients are influenced by the contemporary architecture in the city, and they bring it with them when commissioning their homes back home. The weekend home is a home away from the city. The house needed some comforts, enabling the family to stay there without missing their city. Residential estates in South Africa are influential in determining the residential architecture clients choose. We have transitioned from Tuscan residences to a more contemporary interpretation of the Cape Dutch/Farmhouse aesthetic, which uses very simple forms and volumes.

When we design homes like these, we ensure we deliver the same professionalism expected in the city. This is even much more important as the locality of these sites makes oversite very difficult. Ensuring that the contractor and client can easily understand the drawings is vital to ensure that we are all on the same page. The project is an excellent example of how we think about the whole process from inception to construction.
